In August of '99 I found myself surrounded by significant icons of the horror genre at a convention in Novi, Michigan. It was a day that I will remember for a long time, hobnobbing with some of the most talented and well known faces in the industry.....

This first photo has me in the middle of a duo that introduced one the most influencial horror movies in zombie history, George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead. The man to my left is Russ Streiner, who played Barbara's brother Johnny while the man to my right could be called THE first zombie. When Russ (Johnny) says, "They're coming to get you Barbara! Look!! There's one of them now." He's talking about Bill Hinze. Seeing them in this photo makes me laugh because the only other time I've seen them together is when one of them was undead and both were trying to kill each other.....

.....And here we have David Emge who played "Fly Boy" or Peter in George Romero's sequel to the forementioned zombie flick called Dawn of the Dead. Dave was a treat to talk to, he had answers for all of my Dawn questions and seemed happy to be there.....

.....And this is me, my girlfriend Kissy and Jason Voorhees himself. That's right!! It's Kane Hodder. Mr. Hodder has delighted us with his portrayal of the youth slasher in Friday the 13th's VII, VIII and IX. Mr. Hodder was a great and fun guy (as if the picture didn't already give that away). He told us the great news of an upcoming part X where he will again reprise his role of the killer voted most likely never to die. Apparently this will be out before the much anticipated Jason vs. Freddy. I remember thinking to myself, "What a bunch of ignorant pricks, they couldn't even spell his name right." He wasn't too upset about it, he definately has a great sense of humour. Mr. Hodder's resume doesn't just stop at being Jason, look him up at www.imdb.com.....

.....And last but certainly not least is my personal hero, Mr. Tom Savini, master of horror effects. Tom has made famous a number of movies including Dawn/Day of the Dead, Creepshow, Friday the 13th, Martin, The Burning, Maniac, Nightmare, Night of the Living Dead '90, Texas Chainsaw II (that's the Leatherface mask in the foreground) and much, much more. His horror effects are unparalelled when it comes to authenticity. I've seen a thousand different horror flicks and some of the best ones have Savini's mechanics involved. I hope he never tires of the industry, it would be a great loss to splatter horror.
